CATCH YOUR BREATH, FOLKS.
HAD ‘EM ALL THE WAY, FOLKS!
After going behind late in the third period, the Bruins got a goal from Hampus Lindholm to tie it then got a game-winner from David Pastrnak early in overtime to eliminate the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
EXHALE.
But after you exhale, quickly catch your breath, because Round 2 is almost upon us!
Shortly after the teams left the ice at TD Garden, the NHL released the full second-round schedule for the Bruins-Panthers match-up:
- Game 1: @ Florida Monday, May 6, 8 PM — ESPN
- Game 2: @ Florida Wednesday, May 8, TBD — ESPN
- Game 3: @ Boston Friday, May 10, TBD — TBS, MAX, TruTV
- Game 4: @ Boston Sunday, May 12, TBD — TBS, MAX, TruTV
- Game 5: @ Florida Tuesday, May 14, TBD
- Game 6: @ Boston Friday, May 16, TBD
- Game 7: @ Florida Sunday, May 19, TBD
As you can see, you don’t have much time to dwell on tonight’s OT win — though I encourage you to do so throughout the day on Sunday.
The start times will depend on how the other second-round series pan out, with the Rangers and Hurricanes officially kicking off the second round on Sunday afternoon.
Angelina will have you covered with a recap of Game 7 later on tonight or Sunday morning.
Until then, my half-baked takes:
- Hampus Lindholm was a monster tonight. Obviously he scored the game-tying goal and assisted on the game-winning goal, but he was reliably stout on defense in a game where Charlie McAvoy had far more stumbles than usual.
- Trent Frederic deserves credit as the Bruins’ most consistent and effective forward in this series. He was excellent again tonight.
- Jeremy Swayman is elite. He will get a giant contract in the off-season and it will be worth it.
- Mason Lohrei was excellent tonight and (to me) has earned a place in the lineup moving forward.
- This is nitpicking after a giant win, but Brad Marchand wasn’t very good tonight. Ideally, the rat-fest of a series against Florida will get him going.
- Are you having fun yet?
GOODNIGHT, EVERYBODY!
