The Don Sweeney special makes it to a Quinnipiac commit!
Don’s favorite kind of prospect: a big USHL kid going to college, has once again found his way to the Boston Bruins.
The Bruins have selected Elliot Groenewald from the Cedar Rapids Roughriders 110th overall in the 4th round. Groenewald’s frame of 6’2 and 201 is, as EliteProspects puts it, something he puts to good use.
As the off-puck defender, Groenewold’s high-pace, high-aggression style stands out. He locks down threats around the net, jumps into passing lanes, and diffuses multi-variable situations with ease. When defending the rush, he pivots early and surfs across to force the attacker wide. -EliteProspects 2024 NHL Draft Guide
And as per usual, the young man will be heading to the NCAA for Quinnipiac University this fall.
Let’s all welcome Elliot to the Boston Bruins!
