The Latvian is officially in the mix.
After two seasons out in Amherst, Dans Locmelis is done with college hockey.
The UMass product signed his entry-level contract with the Bruins this morning, a three-year deal with an AAV of $860,000.
Locmelis’s most recent college season came to an end over the weekend, just short of a Frozen Four berth.
The Latvian forward had 47 points (15G-32A) in 70 games with the Minutemen.
Locmelis has been a key contributor for Latvia on the international stage, with 6G-4A-10PTS totals in 16 World Junior Championship games.
He helped Latvia win a bronze medal at the 2023 edition of that tournament, and also helped Latvia secure a spot in the 2026 Olympics.
He’ll report to Providence on an ATO, so we may see him in action soon.
Locmelis was a fourth-round pick by the Bruins back in 2022.
