There was really nowhere to go but up, right?
Welcome to a new week, folks! Monday is upon us.
It wasn’t a great week for the Bruins last week, what with two straight peltings to start their road trip.
However, they managed to turn things in a slightly better direction with a solid performance in Vancouver on Saturday night.
While it’d be a stretch to say they’ve turned things around, you’ll certainly take a 5-1 road win after those two games in Winnipeg and Seattle.
The B’s are off today before continuing their road trip on Tuesday night in Calgary. They’ll close out the trip on Thursday night in Edmonton.
Elsewhere in the system, Matt Poitras continued his torrid stretch in Providence over the weekend, capping things off with a goal and an assist in the P-Bruins’ 5-2 win over Hartford on Sunday.
Poitras has goals in six consecutive games, and unless I’m missing something (which is entirely possible), Providence has won six games in a row as well.
Not a bad time down on the farm, all things considered.
The Bruins will skate in Calgary today, with recently claimed Oliver Wahlstrom expected to join the team for practice.
It remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be in the lineup on the trip, but you have to imagine the Bruins plan to get him into the mix sooner rather than later to see what they have in the kid.
As Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe noted, Wahlstrom was current Bruin Marc McLaughlin’s roommate for a spell at Boston College, so he’ll have at least one familiar face waiting for him.
Other than that, we’ve got a day of respite before the games resume.
What’s your take on the last three games? Are these Bruins more of the “get smoked in Winnipeg” team or the “convincing win in Vancouver” team?
My guess is the truth lies somewhere in between, but that’s not really a fun take.
