They’re happening.
Monday is upon us, folks!
The last week of July is here. I apologize for the fits-and-starts version of the recent Morning Skates, but as you’re all well aware, there isn’t a ton happening at the moment.
Thanks to all of you who continue to come by and comment though, as things have been far livelier around here than in recent summers (as far as I remember).
Still, we’ll try to get back on track with more regular Morning Skates this week, then we have player/coach/management ratings on the horizon.
Thanks for bearing with us during these slower dog days of summer.
As you may have guessed, I don’t have a ton for you Bruins-wise at the moment.
The Athletic ranked the Bruins’ goaltending situation as the seventh-best in the NHL at the moment; their rankings considered the current state, future state, and salary cap state.
The writers obviously ranked the Bruins highly for the present, with Jeremy Swayman set to take the full-time reins.
Their “Salary Cap” figure was less generous, mainly due to Swayman’s impending raise and the Joonas Korpisalo contract.
Weirdly, they completely dismissed Brandon Bussi, stating that Philip Svedeback, who just completed his second season at Providence College, is “all they’ve got behind” Swayman, but I guess you can’t expect national writers to know all the ins and outs of farm systems.
Elsewhere, the Paris Summer Olympics are in full swing, with basketball, soccer, rugby, surfing, and all kinds of other stuff happening in recent days.
We also had the quite random “Kevin Durant is wearing a Bruins hat” content, which is the perfect bit of discussion fodder for the summer.
Maybe he could provide the forward depth the Bruins are seeking. Get it done, Don.
What else is on tap for this week? What would your Olympic event of choice be?
