At least one TD Garden tenant had a banner year.
It is Wednesday, my dudes.
The Boston Celtics won their 18th NBA championship on Monday night, ensuring that 2024 was a banner year for at least one tenant at TD Garden.
You know Jeremy Jacobs was the happiest guy in the world to see the Celtics lose in Game 4, forcing another home playoff game with $389 chicken fingers.
If you’re not an all-Boston sports fan, you likely don’t care about any of this, but for some of us, it was a nice way to start the week.
Speaking of nice starts to the week, I enjoyed continuing the week with the Florida Panthers losing again, as the Flying McDavids won in Sunrise last night to force a Game 6 in Edmonton.
After a (relatively) sleepy start, McDavid has roared to life, recording eight points in the last two games — per an ESPN graphic, that’s the most in a two-game span in Stanley Cup Final history.
While it’s still a tall order to ask Edmonton to win two more in a row, the series has at least become competitive and prolonged the hockey season for another few days.
For the Bruins, some of you have already discussed this, but it appears that Oskar Steen’s time with the organization is over.
Quadzilla will be talking with other teams, and while the departure is a little disappointing, Steen struggled to take that next step at the NHL level with the B’s. Hopefully he can catch on somewhere else.
Finally, as you and I were enjoying a pre-summer June weekend by eating and drinking too much (maybe that’s just me), former Bruins captain Zdeno Chara was completing an Ironman triathlon in Springfield.
Apparently he’ll also be competing in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii in October, so…yeah. Really leaning into that whole “retirement” thing.
What’s on tap for today?
