A lame Final.
Happy Friday, folks!
We’ve got a hot Friday with thunderstorms in the forecast in the Boston area, pretty typical for June. Hopefully you’ve got some decent weather on tap wherever you are.
(I’ve often wondered which of our readers is furthest afield — Australia? North Pole? Vanuatu? Don’t dox yourself though.)
The Bruins had a bit of minor news on Wednesday, announcing that Jay Leach was returning to the team as an assistant coach.
Leach had been an assistant in Seattle, but was out of work after the Kraken made a wholesale coaching change.
Many of you will remember that Leach was pretty highly regarded as a coach around the organization, coaching the P-Bruins for five seasons.
Elsewhere in the hockey world, the Oilers continued to get overwhelmed by the Panthers last night in what has been among the least competitive Stanley Cup Finals in recent memory.
Edmonton made it close down the stretch, but aside from a doorstep chance right after the third goal, they never looked all that threatening.
It’s kind of funny: after Game 1, the Bruins never really looked like they were going to win that series against Florida, but they gave the Panthers far more trouble than the Oilers, and probably more trouble than the Rangers.
Small consolation, of course but…yeah. Edmonton looks dead in the water.
For my last “elsewhere,” the Celtics have a chance to win the NBA title tonight, which is cool, unless you don’t like basketball.
In that case, Euro 2024 starts today too, and that’s usually a pretty good take for the neutral soccer observer (or if you want to adopt a European country to root for).
If you don’t like either of those things, then I can’t help you. At least it’s Friday.
What’s on tap for today?
