The next phase, if you will.
It is Wednesday, my dudes.
Hopefully you had a decent Canada Day!
If you’re in the States, you’ve got the Independence Day holiday coming up, which weirdly falls on a Thursday this year. This means that today feels like a Friday, tomorrow is a holiday, then Friday is just a complete wash of a day. Let’s have fun out there.
Anyways, this has been Calendar Talk!
For your local hockey club, we’re now in that kind of weird in-between phase, where the free agency rush is over (or the excitement, at least, as teams remain free to sign any players who are still available) but we remain a ways away from any meaningful hockey.
Development Camp rolls on for the youths today, as they’ll gather at Warrior for an on-ice session at 10 AM.
We should hear from a number of people today, including some front office and dev camp folks.
Joonas Korpisalo and Max Jones are expected to speak to media via Zoom at 12:30 and 1 PM, respectively, so we should get their takes on joining the organization.
The last real item on the Bruins’ to-do list is signing RFA Jeremy Swayman to a contract extension, which should be a mere formality at this point.
The team has the cap space to get a deal done, and you don’t trade your other goalie unless you’re confident that you’ll be extending his replacement.
Until then, we wait. It’s a good time to overreact to how the youths do against the other youths, or to work on your perfect cookout spread for the 4th.
Lastly, Sky had you covered with the Bruins’ full schedule release, and we’re sure going to have some early nastiness.
The Bruins will open their season by watching the Panthers’ Cup celebrations in Florida then will host those same Panthers at the Garden less than a week later.
Oh, and a home opener against Montreal will be squeezed in there too.
Should be fun!
What’s on tap for today?
