They’re going to be challenged!
It is Wednesday, my dudes.
Earlier in the summer, we had a post about important off-season dates, like the scouting combine, draft, etc.
I mentioned, in my infinite wisdom, that we didn’t have dates for the annual prospect tournament yet, but assumed they’d be coming.
Once again, I was correct, just like when I thought Alex Khokhlachev would be a 30-goal scorer in the NHL. Wait a minute.
The B’s announced on Tuesday afternoon that they will, in fact, be participating in the 2024 Prospects Challenge in Buffalo.
This year’s tournament will be held from September 13-16 at Buffalo’s LECOM Harborcenter.
Along with the Bruins and the Buffalo Sabres, the other teams participating will be the Columbus Blue Jackets, New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
(I feel like the tournament used to be only four teams, but maybe I’m thinking of something else.)
The B’s schedule for the tournament is as follows:
- 9/13 vs. Pittsburgh, 12 PM
- 9/14 vs. Columbus, 3:30 PM
- 9/16 vs. New Jersey, 10 AM
Last summer, one or both of the participating teams ended up broadcasting most of the games on their websites for free, so that will likely be the case again this time around.
This tournament will be right in the middle of the ramp-up to the start of the season, as it’s sandwiched by Rookie Camp, which begins September 11, and Training Camp, which begins on September 18.
The B’s will likely announce their roster for this tournament as part of Rookie Camp, so it’ll be interesting to see who makes the cut.
While we may still be in the dog days of summer, those dates are really just six weeks away, so…the wait is almost over.
What else is on tap for today?
