This month, that is.
Welcome to a new week, folks!
It’s the first full week of February and Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this weekend, so it appears we’ve got plenty more winter on the way.
The Bruins will return to the ice for practice this morning after enjoying a full day off on Sunday. The team should have headed into that off day in decent enough spirits after holding off the Rangers at TD Garden on Saturday.
David Pastrnak continues to be among the hottest skaters in the NHL at the moment, as he’s essentially dragging the Bruins to “in the playoff race” by himself at this point.
At this point, the Bruins are in the somewhat unenviable position of being clearly not good enough to “go for it,” but also not quite bad enough to “sell everyone.”
With a chunk of February missing due to the upcoming Four Nations tournament, the B’s really only have a half-dozen or so games to help Don Sweeney decide what to do on March 7.
Personally, I have a hard time believing Brad Marchand will be dealt, but Marchand is among the many guys on the roster who have to at least be up for discussion at this point.
With blockbuster trades already happening around the league, I wonder if this will be one of those trade deadlines where all of the real action precedes deadline day itself…maybe the GMs are getting their work done ahead of time for once.
Anyways, what else is on tap for you? Big trades in the NBA this weekend as well, if you’re a basketball fan.
Any thoughts on Buffalo’s complete indifference to seeing their best player get drilled in the head? Somewhere, Ryan Miller mutters “piece of ****” to himself.
The B’s will return to game action tomorrow night, with Dollar Bill Guerin’s Minnesota Wild come to town.
