YOU MADE A HOLE IN MY HEART.
Welcome to a new week, folks!
Only 15 more shopping days until Christmas. Maybe it’s just because (American) Thanksgiving was so late this year, but it feels like the holiday is sneaking up on me.
Anyways, the Bruins are off today as they travel west (with a brief stop in “central”) to begin a five-game gauntlet, giving me a chance to dust off my yearly Go West reference.
It never gets old, I tell myself.
The B’s will be back in action on Tuesday night in Winnipeg, facing a Jets team that, as of Sunday night, was tied for the league lead in points (40).
After that: at Seattle, at Vancouver, at Calgary, at McDavids.
The Bruins won’t return home until Dec. 21, when they’ll host a Buffalo Sabres team that is currently falling apart at the seams — a shocking development, I know.
Elsewhere, the Boston’s PWHL outfit won their first game as the Fleet, beating New York, 4-2. Nathan will have you covered with a recap of that one later this morning.
Other than that, there isn’t a ton going on with the B’s. They’re still, remarkably, only three points out of first in the division, having played 29 games to Florida’s 28.
Their goal difference, currently at -12, is starting to creep in the right direction, as you’d expect during a four-game win streak.
We could also talk about how John Tortorella is mad about diving or something, or about how Jacob Trouba will be taking his headshots to a different time zone.
Our main main Urho Vaakanainen is coming back to the East Coast as part of that Trouba trade though, which is a good thing.
It’s partially a weird quirk of how tight the division is, but I was surprised to see that the Rangers, currently in fourth place, are closer to last in the Metro than they are to third.
Things might be getting a bit toasty for Peter Laviolette in Manhattan.
Enough rambling — what’s on tap for today?
