Welcome back to the return of NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head matchups and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is the Winnipeg Jets vs Buffalo Sabres. NHL Predictions
Florida Panthers vs Philadelphia Flyers
Head-to-Head: Panthers 1-0 Flyers
Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)
TV: NBC Sports Philadelphia; Scripps Florida; ESPN+
We open NHL predictions with the Florida Panthers visiting the Philadelphia Flyers. Spencer Knight is the expected starter for the Panthers, who are 4-5-1 in the last 10 games. Sam Reinhart has been great this season with 18 goals, 16 assists and 34 points so far this season. Matthew Tkachuk scored twice in the first meeting that was won 4-3 in a shootout by Florida.
Ivan Fedotov is the confirmed starter for the Flyers, who are 7-2-1 and winners of three straight games. It’s been the two Travises that have carried the Flyers this season. Defenceman Travis Sanheim has five goals and 10 assists for the Flyers. Travis Konecny has continued his great form to start the season with six goals and eight assists over the last 10 games.
Florida is looking to bounce back and they will in a tight contest.
Prediction: Panthers win 4-3 in overtime.
Winnipeg Jets vs Buffalo Sabres
Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)
TV: TSN3; MSG Buffalo; ESPN+
We go to our featured game of NHL predictions with our featured game between the Jets and the Sabres. Winnipeg is expected to go with Connor Hellebuyck, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Winnipeg has lost four straight games and are 3-7 in the last 10 games. Kyle Connor is first in goals (13) and points (29) for the Jets.
Buffalo is coming off a shocking 5-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche the other night. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is the projected starter for the Sabres, who have dropped four consecutive games. Tage Thompson leads the club in goals with 13, but Alex Tuch is first in assists (15) and points (23).
Both teams are looking get off the snide, but Winnipeg gets the win.
Prediction: Jets win 3-2.
Nashville Predators vs Montreal Canadiens
Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)
TV: TSN2; RDS; Fan Duel Sports South; ESPN+
Our final game of NHL predictions has the Nashville Predators visiting the Montreal Canadiens. Nashville is struggling and has taken five consecutive losses. They’ll go with the newly acquired goalie Justus Annunen in between the pipes for this one. Filip Forsberg has nine goals and eight assists for the Predators. Team captain Roman Josi has totaled six goals and added six assists over the past 10 games.
Sam Montembeault is the projected starter for the Habs, who are 5-4-1 in the last 10 games. Montreal has been getting a lot of support lately from Mike Matheson. He has two goals and 13 assists for the Canadiens. Nick Suzuki has tallied six goals and seven assists over the last 10 games.
Nashville needs the victory, but Montreal is just better at this point.
Prediction: Canadiens win 4-2.
Prop Bets of the Night
We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. We’ll focus on some roster snubs for Team USA at the Four Nations Faceoff. Go with Thompson as an anytime goalscorer at +170 on BetMGM. Also, take a shot at Cole Caufield to score at +175 also at BetMGM.
