Game notes
- These two teams face off for the second time in less than a week, as the Bruins hosted the New York Rangers in Sunday’s preseason opener. The Rangers won that game, 3-2.
- Bruins captain Brad Marchand practiced as a regular participant on Wednesday, but he isn’t expected to feature in tonight’s game as he continues his recovery from multiple offseason surgeries.
- However, you should still get some star power tonight: per Jim Montgomery, David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy, and Nikita Zadorov are all expected to play tonight.
- While the preseason is a great time to shake off some rust, the main mantra for regular NHLers is “don’t get hurt.” Unfortunately for the Rangers, Ryan Lindgren was injured in their last game and appears set to miss a few weeks.
- Igor Shesterkin remains without a new contract ahead of the final year of his deal, with reports indicating that he wants to be in the $12 million AAV range. Shesterkin has reportedly indicated that he won’t negotiate during the season. This may impact the Bruins a bit, as some have speculated that Jeremy Swayman wants to see what Shesterkin gets before signing his deal. Tune in tomorrow for the latest episode of the Swayman Saga.
We’ll get a game roster sometime Thursday morning and will update this post when it’s available.
Until then…discuss.
