Game notes
- The Boston Bruins look to correct mistakes and not fall apart as they are back in action this afternoon against the New York Rangers.
- Thursday has come and gone, but there’s been too many inconsistent games where the Bruins have lacked a full 60-minute effort this season and its led to some blowout losses. It’s kind of like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde — you aren’t sure which team you are going to get. In the loss, the Bruins had a pretty good two-thirds of the game and fought back for the tie, but then completely broke down.
- Will a new month be better for the Bruins? With Thursday’s loss, the Bruins ended January going 5-7-2 to open the second half of the season.
- The Bruins last saw the Rangers on Jan. 2. In the game, the Bruins lost 2-1 as they couldn’t come back from a two-goal deficit after the first period. Elias Lindholm had scored the sole Bruins’ goal. The two will then close out their season series on Feb. 5.
- The Rangers have been busy wheeling and dealing. Last night, they acquired J.T. Miller in a six-player deal between New York and the Vancouver Canucks. A few days ago, they also acquired Lucas Edmonds from Tampa Bay.
- The Rangers are 2-2-1 in their last five games and come to Boston on a two-game losing streak. They last played Tuesday when they were shut out, 4-0, by the Carolina Hurricanes.
- For the Rangers, Fox has six points in his last five games with five assists and one goal.
- According to projected lineups, the Bruins don’t look like they will be making any changes up front — and are rolling with the same defenders on the backend.
- Injury update: Mark Kastelic practiced yesterday, but Interim head coach Joe Sacco said he will not be in the lineup today. Hampus Lindholm did not skate. Sacco said it’s all part of the plan and still assessing him day-to-day.
- See ya soon!
