Game notes
- The Boston Bruins will look to continue to build their offensive game against the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight.
- After a shutout and a few low scoring games, albeit wins, the Bruins’ six goals in their 6-3 win over the New York Islanders on Wednesday is tied for the most they’ve scored in a game this season. It’s also just as much as they had scored in the previous four games before it. The B’s last put up six goals in the home opener against Montreal.
- Wednesday’s win was a good night for the Bruins’ top six forwards who had two- and three-point nights. They’ll look to keep that rolling against a Pittsburgh team who has the highest goals against/games played average at 3.96 goals.
- And on the flip side — the Bruins have the second to last lowest average in the league for goals for/games played at 2.38 goals.
- While David Pastrnak has five assists in his last five games, he’s six games now without finding the back of the net.
- Pittsburgh last played on Wednesday, snapping a three-game losing streak as they beat the Vancouver Canucks, 5-4 — the day after the Canucks blanked the B’s.
- It’s another return game for an ex-Bruin as Matt Grzelcyk is back at the TD Garden. So far this season, Grzelcyk has eight points with eight assists in 24 games. Expect a video tonight welcome him back to Boston.
- See ya tonight!
