Game notes
- The Bruins-Panthers second round series continues tonight, and while there are no new team births to report, the B’s should be heading into tonight’s game with plenty of good vibes after Game 1.
- That game saw a combination of Jeremy Swayman and offensive production from depth players (and the blue line) surprise the Panthers. Was Florida rusty in Game 1? Were the Bruins riding the emotional high of the Game 7 win? Time will tell.
- There’s little to report from the world of the Bruins, as there were fortunately no new injuries picked up in Game 1. Swayman will continue to claim the crease until he either loses a game or has an “off” night, so…the goalie controversy is at rest for now.
- I’d be getting ahead of myself if I claimed Florida might have a goalie controversy of their own, as Sergei Bobrovsky remains very good and very capable of stealing a series. However, he’s now sporting a 3.00 GAA for the playoffs, along with a sub-.900 save percentage. I wouldn’t place the blame on him for any of the Bruins’ Game 1 goals, and he made some great stops too — but to this point in the playoffs, he hasn’t been what you’d expect.
- I haven’t seen any releases (as of Wednesday morning) about Patrick Brown returning to Providence, so my guess is he’s still with the team. There’s been no news about whether or not he’ll stay in the lineup or if Jesper Boqvist may be ready to return.
- In a similar vein, the team hasn’t issued any official updates on the status of Andrew Peeke or Danton Heinen, who are supposed to be available at some point in this series, per Don Sweeney.
- Per the Panthers’ website, they were a good bounce-back team during the regular season, bouncing back with a win after a loss 17 times. They bounced back from their lone loss in the Tampa series by closing it out.
- Sam Bennett should be returning to action over the course of the next few games, per Paul Maurice. I feel like this exact same thing happened last year, but maybe I’m losing my mind.
See ya tonight!
