Game notes
- The Boston Bruins are back in action to continue their homestand tonight against the Buffalo Sabres!
- It will be the second meeting between the two clubs this season. The Bruins will next see Buffalo on Dec. 27.
- The Bruins last saw the Sabres on Nov. 14, in a 5-2 win. In the game, the B’s took a commanding 5-0 lead through the middle of the second period on goals from five different players. Danton Heinen, David Pastrnak, Brandon Carlo, Oskar Steen and Hampus Lindholm registered the tallies. The Sabres eventually made it 5-2 on a pair of goals from Victor Oloffson.
- For the Bruins, the last few games saw the team bounce back after battling through some adversities in the previous handful of games to now be on a three-game winning streak.
- Some of that energy and momentum to come away with a W has come the team’s leadership to get the team back to playing Bruins hockey, Jim Montgomery said to reporters after yesterday’s practice.
- In particular, Brad Marchand, who played with intensity after an emotional weekend, had himself a pair of impactful games, producing points — and when they were needed. He’s now on a two-game goal streak with four goals.
- Media reported Marchand was absent from yesterday’s practice to be able to attend for his grandmother’s funeral service, but will be back for tonight’s game.
- David Pastrnak might be one of the top goal scorers in the NHL, but he continues to become more and more of a multi-dimensional player. Pastrnak has definitely stepped into more of that role with his new leadership, doing what he has to do to help the team with. Some of that comes from finding his teammate and not always going for the shot. When you look at Pastrnak’s last ten games he has 15 points with 11 of those coming from assists.
- As the team gets back on track, so has the penalty kill. They’ve killed off 10 in a row after slipping a bit. The PK is inching back up, now at 89.0%.
- The Sabres come to Boston on a four-game losing streak. They last played on Dec. 5. dropping 5-3 to the Detroit Red Wings.
- We’ll see ex-Bruin Connor Clifton return to Boston for the first time. This season, Clifton has two assists in 23 games played.
- See ya tonight!
