Game notes
- It’s a quick turnaround for the Boston Bruins to forget about the season opener and focus now on their home opener against the Montreal Canadiens.
- Last season, the Bruins were 3-0-1 against the Canadiens. They’ll face Montreal three times this year, seeing them next on Dec. 1 for the Centennial Game.
- It can only go up from Tuesday, right? The Bruins got off to a slow start, trying to play catch up the whole game against the Florida Panthers after allowing four goals in the first period — including a shorthanded goal on Tuesday. The Panthers widened the scoring gap in the second period and the B’s ultimately fell 6-4 with late third-period goals from Trent Frederic and David Pastrnak.
- The B’s will likely go through some growing pains with new faces and goaltending mixed into the lineup. The Bruins will look to execute their game better tonight — and obviously not dig themselves into a whole.
- And again, the Bruins’ newest components will have to try to keep out of the box as most of their penalties were stick infractions.
- We’ll also wait to see for the off-season acquisitions to make an impact. Elias Lindholm was the only one who tallied a point – on a shorthanded assist in Game 1.
- Will Jeremy Swayman get the nod in net tonight? We’ll have to wait and find out. While Joonas Korpisalo let in six goals last game, Jim Montgomery said it was the players in front of him who were the problem. The Bruins were off yesterday, so we don’t have an update on which way Montgomery is leaning for tonight’s starter.
- See ya tonight!
