Game notes
- The Boston Bruins will look to bounce back after a four-game winless streak as they face yet another test against the Edmonton Oilers tonight at the TD Garden. Tonight is the last meeting of the season between the two clubs.
- The Bruins last saw the Oilers on Dec. 19, dropping 3-2, to them in OT. That game, the Bruins were ahead 2-0 after the first, but Edmonton answered back with a goal in the second and one in the third to force extra minutes. Mattias Ekholm scored the game-winner for the Oilers just 1:04 into OT.
- The Oilers are on a three-game winning streak, last beating the Seattle Kraken, 4-2, on Saturday. And Draisaitl and McDavid are still in the top for point leaders in the league. Draisaitl has seven points with five goals and two assists in his last five games while McDavid has five assists in that time.
- With his goal on Sunday, Justin Brazeau became just the fourth Bruin this season to enter double digits with goals. Brazeau and Charlie Coyle are at 10 a piece, behind Brad Marchand at 15 and David Pastrnak at 17.
- Pastrnak said this past weekend that he found some confidence in his game — and it showed in a big way. Pastrnak’s two goals on Saturday at least gave the Bruins a chance despite the loss and his two goals on Sunday got the Bruins to overtime. Pastrnak has five goals in his last five games.
- Head-to-head, the Bruins and Oilers are pretty even in the PK department (Bruins at 76.2% and Oilers just slightly better at 76.9%). We won’t bring up the power play which is still struggling…
- The Bruins were off yesterday so we’ll have to wait until morning skate for any indication of lineup changes. But it would be safe to say Jeremy Swayman is likely in net.
- See ya tonight!
