Game notes
- The Boston Bruins wrap up a three-game homestand with their second game in a week against the Florida Panthers this afternoon at the TD Garden.
- The two clubs opened the season against each other and the Bruins look to reverse course on what happened a week ago in Florida when they fell 6-4 to the Panthers. After today, the Bruins won’t see them again until Jan. 11, 2025.
- But since then, the Bruins are on a two-game winning streak while it’s the opposite for Florida. The Panthers come to Boston on a two-game losing streak, having dropped to the Ottawa Senators, 3-1, and then the Buffalo Sabres, 5-2, on Saturday.
- So far in three games, the Bruins have had 17 power plays and 17 penalty kills. They’re 2 for 17 on the power play and have killed off 16 of 17 penalties. While it’s great to have that many man-advantages and be 94.1% on the PK, the B’s need to be more disciplined with their sticks and stay out of the box.
- While the Bruins’ top line has found its chemistry and has produced every game, Charlie Coyle’s line is still looking for its first goal of the season. Combined, Coyle, Brad Marchand and Morgan Geekie have two points — both assists from Marchand.
- Can David Pastrnak stay on pace for 82 goals in 82 games?? Now wouldn’t that be something. For now, he has a goal in each of the three games. Elias Lindholm is also on a three-game point streak leading the B’s early in the season with five points.
- For the Panthers, Bennett is on a three-game point streak with four points.
- “We’ve had two bad starts, one really good one,” Jim Montgomery told reporters yesterday, saying execution and effort were lacking and needs to be a focus. The B’s will look to get off to a better start today with cleaner zone entries and get the power play back on track to how it flowed on Saturday.
- See ya soon!
