Game notes
- The Bruins and Flyers will face off for the first game of two in a row against one another, the next coming at TD Garden on Tuesday.
- The Flyers are 2-1-0 on the preseason, with 6-2 and 2-0 wins against the Capitals and Islanders, respectively, sandwiched around a 5-0 loss to Montreal.
- Highly touted Matvei Michkov is off to a good preseason start for the Flyers: the teenager has 1G-3A-4PTS totals in two games.
- As of Friday night, the Bruins hadn’t announced any roster transactions, meaning no new round of cuts. There’s always a chance they trim the roster a bit prior to tonight’s game, or they could wait until two off days on Sunday and Monday to make their moves.
- I’d assume bigger names like David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy won’t play in back-to-back games, so it remains to be seen how NHL-heavy tonight’s lineup is for the B’s.
- After not playing in Manhattan, it stands to reason “pushing for a spot guys” Fabian Lysell and Georgii Merkulov will be back in action tonight, giving each another chance to show their stuff before likely roster cuts.
- About the TV schedule: I can’t find where/if this game is going to be broadcast in the Boston area. NESN is showing the Red Sox penultimate game, starting at 4:10 PM. NESN+ doesn’t show the Bruins game on its broadcast schedule. It could be that they’re waiting to see if the Red Sox game ends in time to run the Bruins on NESN, or it could not be shown at all. We’ll try to figure it out and clarify on Saturday.
Enjoy the start to your weekend!
