Game notes
- The Bruins will move away from the friendly confines of TD Garden and enter what is usually a pretty decent atmosphere at Scotiabank Place (at least in the upper levels of the arena) as this first-round series shifts to Toronto.
- Andrew Peeke will be out for the Bruins tonight, Saturday, and likely beyond. The team officially recalled Mason Lohrei on Tuesday, but there’s been no official word on who will draw in to replace Peeke. Parker Wotherspoon is currently the favorite.
- While the Bruins look to plug an injury gap, the Leafs may get an injury boost in the form of the return of William Nylander. Nylander, better known as David Pastrnak’s friend, has missed the first two games of this series with a somewhat mysterious injury but was termed a possibility for Game 3.
- Unless Jim Montgomery really wants to mess with everyone’s heads, Jeremy Swayman will be back in net for the Bruins tonight. Swayman earned the win the last time these two teams played in Toronto, 4-1 back in early March.
- Auston Matthews took over Game 2 for the Leafs. Can anyone on the Bruins return the favor? Something out of Brad Marchand would be nice, as the Bruins captain has just three goals since the start of March. While he has three assists to his name in the series, he just looks off…or maybe that’s just my incorrect eye test.
- There haven’t been many indications that he’s considering it, but I can’t help but wonder if Montgomery and Co. would consider some kind of shake up with their forwards. Justin Brazeau still doesn’t appear to be ready, but James van Riemsdyk could slot in somewhere if the B’s need something different.
- The Leafs were 22-15-4 at home during the regular season, while the Bruins were 23-9-9 on the road.
- As a reminder, this game will start at (or sometime around, more likely) 7 PM Eastern; Saturday’s Game 4 will start at 8 PM.
See ya tonight!
