A special day.
Welcome to Friday, folks!
I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems like a good time to have a bit of a breather for the B’s (and those who follow them).
For the past 2-3 weeks, it seems like there’s been a game every other day, plus the chaos of a coaching change in the mix.
I feel a bit spoiled having two full days in a row without a game. Get out there and get to work on that to-do list.
The Bruins will practice this morning ahead of Saturday’s matinee game against the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden.
However, practice won’t be the biggest part of the day for the B’s, as they’re also scheduled to have their annual holiday visits to local children’s hospitals, a day guaranteed to have some heartwarming moments.
The team will visit kids and their families at Boston Children’s Hospital, Franciscan Children’s, Mass General for Children, Shriners Children’s Boston, and Spaulding Rehab.
Elsewhere, as many of you already discussed the rosters for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off were released earlier this week, with a few Bruins in the mix.
I feel like the response to this mini-tournament has been a collective shrug — no one’s super pumped for it, it’s a little awkward to only have four countries (though the timing and “NHL only” factors help explain that a little), etc.
However, if you shift your perspective and look at it as essentially replacing the NHL All-Star Game, annually one of the most awkward events on the sporting calendar, maybe it won’t be such a bad thing after all.
What’s on tap for today and the weekend? Be careful on those ladders if you’ll be hanging Christmas lights.
