Game notes
- We are back in ‘Boston,’ where the Fleet had struggles last season, especially in the opener and closer, both of which were against the same Minnesota team they face tonight.
- Goaltending is just about the only area this team doesn’t have cause for concern. Frankel was her usual brick wall sell last time out and we expect to see her start in the home opener. At some point Kessel will have to give her a game off but we might not see that point for awhile if the team continues other trends.
- After outshooting Toronto for the first Boston’s offense went on strike taking 6 shots in the second and 1 in the third, in a game where they were tied until the final minutes of play. This is a continuation of woes from last season that will need to change if they want to beat the Frost.
- Special teams is another aspect to focus on as they had some inconsistency in the opener after a rough go last year. An early PP goal was a nice touch for the Fleet but after that they allowed a PP goal and a shorthanded goal, with an ENG scored by Toronto as well. If they can’t score on their skater advantages at the least they need to not allow goals. Minnesota had similar struggles last season so we will have to see if either team can get their special teams going tonight.
