Game notes
- Boston swept Montreal over three OT games, while Minnesota reverse swept Toronto after being the only team in the series to score a road goal, as they tallied four of them in the deciding Game 5.
- Aerin Frankel, the current USA goalie will face off against Maddie Rooney, the first USA goalie to win Olympic gold since Nagano ‘98.
- Boston has been off since Tuesday while Minnesota wrapped their series up on Friday.
- These teams opened the season against each other with Minnesota taking the first game of wither franchise’s history in controversial fashion as Taylor Heist’s first goal of the game did not appear to cross the line and the league refused to reveal overhead views of the goal to confirm the validity.
- These teams completed the first ever league trade when Boston shipped of second round pick Sophie Jaques for Susanna Tappani and Abby Cook. Both Tappani and Jaques have thrived on their new teams. It will be interesting to see if there is any extra spark for those players.
- Boston was able to return both Jamie-Lee Rattray and Loren Gabel in Game 3 of their semifinal series. Gabel did not see the ice but has now had five more days to get back into game shape. Hopefully both players are a little closer to 100%.
