Once again Boston and Montreal threw haymakers at each other until they were both husks of themselves, and once again Boston emerged as the victor.
Boston came out of the gate with some energy, something that has been missing for large stretches of the season. The period saw Boston outshoot Montreal, one of only two times in 9 periods so far in which that has happened. Vermont’s Amanda Pelkey scored unassisted early to give Boston their first lead in regulation in the series.
The second saw Boston take another bad penalty at the start of the period. Once again Kristin O’Neil would take advantage of this fact and put it past Frankel for the second time this series.
The third period saw no goals but did have one of the most controversial decisions of the season. At 6:20 into the frame Lexie Adzija made a play on Laura Stacey lifting her stick to take the puck away, in the process she hit Stacey’s shoulder and then grazed the facemark. The officials reviewed for a major and upheld this terming the act had ‘Intent to Injure.’ Adzija will now have to have her case heard by the league to determine if there will be a suspension or fine. The fact that even the Canadian announcers who have been famously biased this season were questioning the call led many to criticize the call. Boston would hold off an onslaught from Montreal to preserve the tie game.
This game saw the two teams play all the way into a 3rd OT period. Throughout the extra time both teams were threatening, both goalies stood on their head and both teams ran completely out of gas. Late into the third period it was a fourth liner, Taylor Wenzckowski, that put in a greasy rebound to finish it.
Game Notes

- The TOI for this game got to be absurd as players were hovering around 60 minutes and one even went over.
- Boston now has a commanding 2-0 lead in the series, it will take only one more victory to reach the finals and they will play the next two games of the series at home.
