Boston Celtics center Al Horford confirmed he would return next season, despite rumors and speculation that he may choose to retire. Horford spoke to the media and said he will be back for next season, which will be his 18th season in the NBA.
“I’m coming back. That’s the plan,” Horford said. He added that he was going to take some time off and then begin his offseason training for next season.
Horford was asked how long he plans to play, and that he doesn’t have a timeframe in mind.
“I feel good. I want to keep it going. I have to be cautious with how I approach the season and go through the season,” Horford said. The veteran big man also praised the Celtics medical and training staff with how they managed him throughout the season.
Horford has one season at $9.5 remaining on the two-year extension he signed with Boston in 2022.
