The 2023-24 Boston Celtics have cemented themselves in the history books after delivering an 18th championship to the franchise this spring. That breaks a tie with the rival Los Angeles Lakers, and, for now, Boston has the most titles in the entire NBA.
Pole position is important in a city like Boston. With such a rich pedigree of winning across the four major male sports leagues, fans expect a certain level of success. And while it’s not conditional support, winning in the Hub elevates players and teams to certain heights. Celtics big man Al Horford explained as such at a recent fan event in Back Bay. Hundreds of supporters came by to see Horford just two days removed from winning the 2024 NBA Finals, braving brutal heat and long lines just to celebrate with their beloved veteran.
Horford was all smiles from the moment he arrived. In a press conference prior to the event, he spoke why he feels so thankful to play in the city and for such a storied franchise.
