Are the Boston Celtics still being overlooked by the NBA and opposing teams? As the reigning NBA champions (it feels so good to write that), the Celtics are the team to beat heading into the 2024-25 regular season. So when it comes to why other ball clubs should not overlook Boston, it ought to go without saying.
But with plenty of Olympic snubs still fresh in their memory, critics decrying the quality of teams on the way to that title, and even the league granting clubs like the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors more national TV games, there’s a case to be made the Celtics are STILL being overlooked.
And if you ask Bleacher Report league analyst Dan Favale, he would likely tell you that makes no sense at all. “Relative to the rest of the field, (sportsbooks) have the Boston Celtics billed as heavy favorites to repeat as champions,” he reminds us in a recent article. “Because, well, duh.”

“It would be far more challenging to come up with reasons we should overlook the Celtics,” he adds. “They don’t exist.”
“(…) Unless you think Jayson Tatum’s body will be irreparably fatigued from barely playing on Team USA, the Celtics should be considered the team to beat—and, by extension, cannot be one you even think about ignoring.”
