The Boston Celtics have downgraded six of their best players for the 82nd and final game of their slate of 2023-24 regular season contests vs. the Washington Wizards. The looming 2024 NBA Playoffs are likely at least as much of the reason why, along with any lingering minor injuries that have the team’s top players sitting out the game.
Boston lists Jaylen Brown (rest), Jrue Holiday (left patella tendinopathy), Al Horford (rest), Kristaps Porzingis (rest), Jayson Tatum (rest), and Derrick White (left ankle sprain) as out for the contest on what Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has decreed as “Mike Gorman Day”.
And while that might take a little shine off the last regular season game that Gorman will call in his 43-year career, there was never much shine there to begin with.

Especially considering the Wizards are among the worst teams in the league this season, and are sitting guys of their own as well.
