The Boston Celtics weren’t supposed to lose to a team like the Cleveland Cavaliers. But then the Cavs were not supposed to shoot close to 50% from the 3-point line, and Dean Wade of all people were not supposed to turn into prime Ray Allen.
But these things happen. Coupled with poor defense in the game’s final frame by Boston, bad decision-making in the game’s final seconds, and some complicatingly poor officiating going down at the same time, it would all be too much for the Celtics Tuesday night. Solid games were had by Jayson Tatum (26 points, 13 rebounds), Kristaps Porzingis (24 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks), and Jaylen Brown (21 points), to no avail.
With the loss, the Celtics are now 48-13 with a 7.5-game lead in the East and a 5.5 lead over the entire NBA.
