The Boston Celtics have only strengthened their grip on the top of the Eastern Conference and league standings in recent days. So, it should be no surprise that the team remains atop the official NBA weekly power rankings coming out of the league’s 2024 All-Star Break.
“The Celtics went into the break with five straight wins, with two of those by 40 and 50 points,” writes NBA Dot Com’s John Schuhmann. “They’re looking good for finishing with the league’s best record for the first time since they won the championship in 2007-08, currently leading the (Minnesota Timberwolves) by four games.”
“The Celtics have passed the (Indiana Pacers) in offensive efficiency (giving them the most efficient offense in NBA history) and rank in the top three on both ends of the floor for the second straight season,” he adds.

“The Celtics have the league’s third-easiest post-break schedule regarding cumulative opponent winning percentage (.463),” relates Schuhmann, hinting that Boston may well remain camped out at the top for the rest of the season.
If head coach Joe Mazzulla decides to lean into resting his stars, or there is some slippage in the relatively tough remaining schedule of the six consecutive national TV games, that could still change, however.
