Can Jayson Tatum become the face of the NBA?

February 28, 2024 by Celtics Wire

Jayson Tatum is starting to be mentioned in MVP discussions. He is the best player on the Boston Celtics. The Celtics hold the best record in the NBA. It makes sense that his name would be in the discussion for the prestigious individual award. However, it does appear that his sacrifices for his team could cost him his chance.

Nevertheless, Tatum is focused on bigger things. He repeatedly stated that his sole focus is bringing a championship to Boston. If he achieves that goal, he will undoubtedly change the narrative that currently surrounds his young career. In a recent episode of Yahoo Sport’s “Good Word With Goodwill” podcast, Vincent Goodwill questions whether Tatum could eventually progress to being seen as the face of the NBA.

After all, he’s a consummate professional, and a genuine family man. He’s exactly what the league is looking for when trying to promote their brand. However, he needs to win at the highest level before he can start taking steps toward that potential outcome.
