The Boston Celtics have yet to include Marcus Smart or Robert Williams in a proposal to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Celtics are viewed around the league as the “clear cut-answer as the team that has the ingratiates to make a deal with Brooklyn happen.”
When the Celtics offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a first round pick in July, Brooklyn countered by requesting the inclusion of Smart, more draft picks and potentially one additional rotation player.
The Celtics have the necessary pieces to execute a trade and Brooklyn has listened, but a gap on an actionable deal remains.
