You might find it hard to blame Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla if he had a bit of a grudge against a player who cost Boston a win over a bad call on a play he admitted to fouling. But Mazzulla revealed he actually thinks highly of that player — Indiana Pacers guard Buddy Hield — because of that admission. That Mazzulla’s words came after a minor altercation between Hield and Boston’s bench made it even more impressive.
Speaking to the media after Boston’s revenge on the Pacers at TD Garden on Tuesday night, Mazzulla shared that he held Hield in high regard despite the Pacers sharpshooter launching a shot at the Celtics’ basket after a whistle.
Evidently, assistant coach Sam Cassell took issue with that, and got into a minor jawing match with Hield.
Take a look at the clip embedded above from the folks at NBC Sports Boston to hear his response in full.
