The Boston Celtics hung on to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 122-119, advancing to 55-14 for the season and expanding their lead in the standings to 11 games. Jayson Tatum led the way with 31 points, but five Celtics scored 17 or more points in the game, enough to outlast a fourth quarter comeback from the Bucks.
At the time of this writing, Boston and Milwaukee are the top two teams in the Eastern Conference, and we could see these clubs clash in the coming postseason. That said, tonight wasn’t a perfect preview of what may be to come. The Bucks were without former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, while Jrue Holiday and Sam Hauser were absent for the Celtics. With a well-rounded offensive effort and a big showing from Payton Pritchard off the bench, Boston deconstructed a lackluster Milwaukee defense.
Let’s recap the action between the Celtics and Bucks from a 122-119 game Wednesday night at TD Garden.
