During the final minutes of Game 5 between the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics, ESPN’s Mike Breen made an unfortunate mistake when talking about Jrue Holiday’s wife.
As the cameras were locked in on a female fan in the crowd, Breen referred to her as Holiday’s wife. Well, it turns out he got that completely wrong.
The woman in the crowd was not Lauren Holiday, the actual wife of Jrue Holiday and a former United States soccer player.
Breen wasted no time apologizing for his mistake.
“We want to make a quick correction and apologies, that was not Jrue Holiday’s wife,” Breen said on the broadcast.
“There’s [Jrue Holiday’s] wife.”

Jrue and Lauren started dating in 2008. Five years later, they got married.
It’s a shame that Holiday’s wife was misidentified on national TV. Lauren, a two-time Olympic medalist and World Cup champion, deserves proper recognition on the biggest stage.
As for Jrue, it’s safe to say he solidified his status as one of the game’s best two-way players with his performance on Monday night. He had 15 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and a block to close out the series.
With last night’s win in the books, Holiday has become the only player in league history to win a title in his first season with two different teams – the Bucks and Celtics.
