Fans of the Boston Celtics have strong, passionate connections with the players who end up in Celtic green, and often that feeling is mutual. Anyone who has suited up in a Boston uniform knows it is a special bond.
A few players transcend that already unique relationship into something even more memorable. That’s certainly true for All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas, who is still an undeniable fan favorite in the Hub. Although Thomas played for the Celtics for just two and a half seasons, he carved a deep and lasting relationship with the team’s fans. The 35-year-old has had a number of stops in his career since Boston traded him to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the summer of 2017. But the Seattle native recognizes that the connection he forged as a member of the Celtics is something else. Thomas caught up with SB Nation’s Noa Dalzell during a fan event in Las Vegas.
He spoke about how beloved he still is among Celtics fans, and the mutual respect that remains between him and the organization itself.
