Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics are pausing their negotiations on his supermax extensions as he heads overseas for an organization event, sources tell the Boston Globe.
There are no signs of tension between Brown and the Celtics, but there are also no signs of an imminent deal. Brown plans to meet with the Celtics when he returns.
The Celtics are believed to be offering Brown the full supermax, but the holdup is likely related to incentive structure, or clauses such as a fifth-year player option.
“It’s been all good discussion,” Brad Stevens said on Wednesday. “We want Jaylen to be here for a long, long time and we’ve made that clear. We’re looking forward to all sitting down, and we’ve got time here. I probably shouldn’t say anything else, but I feel optimistic.”
