Boston Celtics All-NBA swingman Jayson Tatum didn’t stumble into being the next big thing in the NBA. Even as far back as his high school days — when he was still a skinny, beardless teenager at Chaminade College Preparatory School, the future Celtics star was showing flashes of greatness.
One such example of the early exhibition of his uncanny game was in a game against cross-town rivals at East Saint Louis at the O’Fallon Shootout. The future Duke Blue Devil would score 40 points in Chaminade’s 80-66 dismantling of their neighborly rivals, largely due to Tatum’s dissection of East St. Louis High’s unprepared defense.
It’s not hard to see why Celtics team president Danny Ainge and the rest of Boston’s front office were so ready to draft the young prospect out of college.
Watch the video above to see a young Jayson Tatum put on a show before he was even old enough to vote.
