Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has not looked 100-percent on the court over the first two games of the NBA Finals and unfortunately it appears that he’s dealing with some pain.
According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon and Malika Andrews, Doncic has been dealing with a thoracic contusion which required a pain-killing injection prior to Game 2. Per the report, Doncic is expected to need another one heading into Game 3 on Wednesday.
“Luka Doncic received a pain-killing injection before Game 2 to numb the area of his thoracic contusion, sources tell @malika_andrews and me. The expectation is that Doncic will get another shot before Game 3,” MacMahon wrote on X.
Some NBA fans weirdly think that Doncic is faking the injury, which a larger swath of fans found ridiculous:
“The got Luka on horse tranquilizer and half of this app thinks he’s faking injury,” one user replied.
“They think an NBA player is taking injections, skipping pre game warm ups and practices, walking around wrapped up in bubble wrap just to fool FanMahome on Twitter that he’s hurt,” another wrote with a laugh.
“You have grown men in the quotes thinking a professional basketball player is receiving injections for NBA twitter agendas,” wrote a third.
Doncic had 32 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in Game 2, but he really hasn’t been getting enough help and the end result in back-to-back games without going over 100 points, while the Celtics have gone into the triple digits in both games at TD Garden.
Game 3 will be Wednesday at 8:30 pm ET on ABC.
