When it comes to playing the Boston Celtics in high leverage games, veteran Miami Heat big man Kevin Love knows more than most people do. But the longtime postseason Celtics foe has seen that opponent grow in strength over the years until it became the behemoth it is today.
Love opened up about his recent impressions of Boston in a chat with the Miami Herald’s Anthony Chiang. “They have set the standard in the NBA,” said the Heat vet of this most recent iteration of the Celtics. “They are that good. I think they are the proverbial North Star, if you will.”
“In order to get better, we all need to get better,” he added. “So I don’t know what that means from a decision-making standpoint in the front office, obviously.”

“But I think health played a major component,” added Love, hinting at Miami’s injury-plagued 2023-24 season.
“We don’t like to make those excuses. I know (Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra) would not be happy with me even speaking about it. But I do think it is a part of it.”
