The Boston Celtics won Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals in fashion, demolishing the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 to secure an 18th title. Boston led by 21 at halftime, giving the players and fans a chance to celebrate early as the Celtics went on to cruise to victory.
One of the signature plays of the game came right at the end of the second quarter. Celts guard Payton Pritchard pulled up from beyond halfcourt as time expired in the period, sinking the shot and giving Boston all the momentum heading into the third. It was a special moment, and one of the highlights of the entire game. Big man Al Horford picked up the assist on the play. A week later, Horford and Pritchard recapped the moment during a charity event at the Gillette Company’s headquarters in Boston.
As Horford explained, the two had prepared for the shot ahead of time.
