The Boston Celtics had some demons to exorcise against the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the first round of the NBA’s 2024 Playoffs. And as far as we can tell, they did a better job getting rid of those demons than Father Damien Karras did.
The Celtics held the Heat to just 32.4% from beyond the arc, got to the line 16 times to Miami’s 6, and won the rebounding battle 44-34, which was the game at a team-wide scope more or less. That Boston took their foot off the gas late is concerning, but also something we don’t expect to see often (and hopefully ever again) in this series, or future ones.
