Even before the NBA’s 2024 trade deadline, the Boston Celtics were favorites to win the 2024 finals and hang the long-awaited Banner 18. But then the Celtics went after a pair of defensive specialists to help fortify their roster in case of injury.
Adding former Memphis Grizzlies backup big man Xavier Tillman, Sr. and then Philadelphia 76ers reserve wing Jaden Springer fleshes out Boston’s deep rotation with players who can stay on the floor for the Celtics should their name be called. But also happen to be options who will not get bent out of shape if they have to ride the pine for some time.
