An NBA star got into a fight at the Colorado vs. Colorado State college football game over the weekend.
Derrick White, an NBA Finals winner for the Boston Celtics, got into a scrap with friends at the Colorado vs. Colorado State rivalry game in Fort Collins on Saturday evening. TMZ Sports found video of White and his friends appearing to get into a fight behind one of the end zones at Canvas Stadium. White is a University of Colorado alum and was trying to enjoy the game, when a fight broke out behind one of the end zones.
From TMZ Sports:
In the third quarter — as it became clear White’s Buffs were likely going to win — the apparent arguing turned violent … as you can see in our video, a man in a CSU hat and a Utah shirt swung his arm into the side of White’s head.
The blow connected so hard — it knocked the hat right off White’s dome … and a huge skirmish then ensued.
Multiple people raced in … and while White was pulled out of the mix quickly — nearly a dozen people pushed, shoved and put each other in headlocks for several moments.
Thankfully, police were able to get involved before things escalated too much. White was reportedly able to leave the stadium without incident.
White, 30, played at Colorado from 2015-17. He’s had a great summer, helping lead the Celtics to an NBA Finals win while later winning a gold medal in the Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
Colorado’s football program, perhaps to no fault of its own this time, just can’t avoid the bad headlines.
The Buffaloes, led by Deion Sanders, topped Colorado State, 28-9, in the Week 3 college football game on Saturday evening, to improve to 2-1.
