If there is a Boston Celtics alumnus around the team a lot these days who knows a thing or two about a culture of winning, it is NBC Sports Boston and ESPN broadcaster Kendrick Perkins. A member of the 2008 title team that swore by their own culture, a philosophy of “ubuntu,” Perkins recently opened up about the birth of a similar phenomenon spreading organically through the Celtics of today.
After a historic turnaround in the second half of the 2021-22 season for Boston, a relationship of accountability and single-mindedness came together in ways that drove winning at an NBA-best rate, continuing to power the Celtics on the court even when down several key players.
Such was the case in Boston’s close loss to the reigning champion Milwaukee Bucks at full strength on Thursday, with the Celtics nearly pulling off the upset despite being down 4 players, 3 of them starters.
