The Boston Celtics are one of the more obvious examples of ball clubs around the NBA currently navigating the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and its dreaded “second apron” (the spending line teams are loath to cross due to onerous penalties).
And one side effect of that new CBA is that teams are spending less, and leaving roster spots open to save money, which has had the cascading effect of squeezing some talented players out of potential roster spots. Among them has been (at least so far) Celtics reserve forward Oshae Brissett. And for that reason, Bleacher Report league analyst Zach Buckley has rated Brissett Boston’s sole loser in the league’s 2024 free agency period.
“He could always fetch out a new deal yet, but it’s looking like (Brissett) may have misread his market,” writes Buckley.
