Which player is the Boston Celtics best new weapon to use in the NBA’s 2024-25 season? The Celtics are a bit shorter than most teams around the league in this regard, given the fact that the team’s front office elected to run it back with largely the same roster as last season.
But the team did add Anton Watson to a two way spot to play for the Maine and Boston Celtics both, as well as their first round selection in the 2024 NBA draft, Creighton wing Baylor Scheierman. And it is the latter option that Bleacher Report league analyst Dan Favale has chosen as Boston’s best new weapon for the 2024-25 season ahead. “Scheierman shouldn’t see much time for a Boston Celtics squad looking to repeat as NBA champions,” he writes.
“Rookies don’t tend to take on big roles for contenders, and the No. 30 pick won’t fill a need unless the team suffers injuries or jettisons Payton Pritchard in a trade.”

“Still, Scheierman is the only option for a Celtics juggernaut returning the same exact core that just earned them a banner,” he continues. “And for his part, he does have a skill set worth exploration.”
“(…) And while many are concerned how the 23-year-old will hold up athletically at the NBA level, he looked at home attacking set defenses, getting to his spots and generating some separation during his five summer league appearances.”
