The Boston Celtics hold the best record in the NBA. They’re top of the Eastern Conference. And they have arguably the most talented roster in the league. Yet, Jayson Tatum remains the Celtics’ clear-cut best player. He’s drastically improved his playmaking and his defense. His offense has leaped since he incorporated a post-game.
With so much talent around him, Tatum has taken a step back regarding box-score production. Instead, he’s focusing on playing a complete game despite how that decision is likely damaging his MVP candidacy. Still, Tatum’s decision has put Boston in a position to succeed at the highest level.
While the 2024 MVP may be out of reach, it would appear some former players are taking notice of Tatum’s overall play for Joe Mazzulla‘s team. In a recent episode of ESPN’s NBA Today, Austin Rivers explained why he believes Tatum has become ‘lethal’ on both sides of the floor.
